I have actually been writing for a very long time. Even if you don’t count all the writing I did related to my academic career and degree in History, I’ve done quite a lot…
In 2013, I took a community education class through the Santa Clarita, California, Parks & Recreation department called Publish Your Book. That was the beginning of my current writing “career”. Under the tutelage of instructor Judith Cassis, I began taking my writing seriously.
Thanks to that class, I also found the Golden Pen Writers Guild, which I attend weekly at the Newhall (CA) Library. It’s great having a group of fellow writers to participate with and be inspired by. Having writing goals doesn’t hurt either.
Will I ever finally publish the novel I began over a decade ago? Who knows—but I at least am taking the opportunity to explore different writing forms and hone my craft.
